Hey guys. Ive got a local machine shop/speed shop that does all my engine work that needs machine-shop style work, and rather than outsourcing the build, i would prefer them to do all the machine work. Where can i purchase cylinder sleeves (Darton, AEBS, etc)? Are there any preferences that are better than others. Going in a 90% track b18c1 shooting for 601whp on race fuel. Thanks guys,

A few sponsors in the FI forum sell them. ERL(earl) to name one). I know another company in there was/is selling a package of sleeves, rods, and pistons(not machined).

If not that check out verious company's that build sleeves and try to find links from their site to sponsors.

 

i believe race engineering sells darton sleeves, http://www.raceeng.com that u can buy on your own. sleeving is something that i would recommend getting done by a company that does it all the time becuase youll likely have problems with sinking sleeves

Yeah.. the people whom do my machine work, do alot of sleeving for race motors, as well as heavily boosted street stompers. Mainly v8's, but they are very good in their work and customer service, so I forsee no problems with their work, as this is almost a daily basis for them.

About 2-3yrs ago I had a local shop (very reputable at the time) doing all of our machine work. They primarily do a lot of v8's.... and they turned around probably 4-5 blocks for us with no problems. Then all of a sudden we had sleeves sink on an engine... not once, but twice.

I believe the last set sunk .001" and they told me the clearance did not matter and a headgasket should take care of it. That's the problem with domestic shops... they are not 100% familiar with the precise work and tight clearances that the import engines require.

Since that incident we have dealt with ERL/Darton to do our blocks.
