Default need help. new to hondas

back in september i bought a 93 honda civic hatch eg. the person i bought it from had swapped in a d16z6 and put a header and a cheap cai on it. since then i have installed a act street clutch kit, 2.5 inch exhaust from the header back with a cheap "test pipe" off of ebay. I put a new head gasket on and replaced the plugs with some ngks the wires with taylor 8mm and all new royal purple oil and a new fuel filter. well since all this the car has started acting really bad and I am trying to diagnose the problem but cannot figure it out being that I am new to hondas. The problems I am having are a very heavy fuel odor coming into the car, stuttering, hesitation, and bad bad fuel milage. It was doing this before I replaced the stock exhaust with the cat back exhaust and before installing the "test pipe." I've tried cleaning my air filter and re installing my fuel filter but none of that helped. If anyone can offer any kind of suggestion it would be very much appreciated. I was thinking maybe timing but I'm hoping that is not it. Someone please help me with this. If anyone is in memphis or is close to memphis and can look at it you can give me a call at 901-859-7937 or email me at golie900@yahoo.com

once again any help will be appreciated.

You may also have a cracked head. It's impossible to know the mileage of that engine. If the engine is sputtering and having problems which include a shotty startup and idle, it could be totally cracked, minor crack welded...you'd have to get it checked out. Though, if it's having a strong fuel smell, like the other guy suggested, it's possibly just a fuel leak

Well by the sound of it you are running way too rich, hence the smell. I'd check the fuel system and do a compression check. Worst case scenario your motor is hosed, but you can get a D16Z6 complete swap for 800 bucks or less =P
