Actual HP increase from camshaft?
I'm considering getting a camshaft for my 2000 civic ex. I was wondering if it's worth the money to get one? I've been asking around and so far half the people i ask say that camshaft adds 10-20 hp, and the other half say like 4 hp. I don't know who's right and nowhere on google is there a site that says actual HP increase, just how it works. So how much does camshaft replacement actually do by itself? I'm looking at a stage 1 from blox, skunk2, or crower.

a bigger cam is gonna give you power. but it all depends on what else you have in your engine to get the most out of the cam

It's going to be AEM CAI, DC sports 4-2-1 1piece header, and probably a apexi ws2 catback exhaust. Of course a cam gear... don't know which though haven't looked into it yet.

and if you get new valve-train, you can rev that y8 higher thank stock, where hondas make all their power, but it really depends on the supporting mods

Depends on what cam. A cam can give you 10 whereas another can give you 15-20.
I'll be getting the ZEX 59300 for my boosted Z6 in a few weeks. From what I've heard it's a great cam for the Z6. For the Y8 I think it's the 100300.

I agree with the tuning (Don't necessarily need Hondata), but I disagree on the cam gear (if you get the ZEX cam). Most guys seem to loose power when they advance/retard the cam timing with ZEX cams. ZEX cams seem to be right on the money with stock cam timing.

Re: Actual HP increase from camshaft? (nota-eg)
So ZEX is actually a good brand? I saw it on ebay, wasn't sure if it was a good brand or not. So only a 4hp gain is total BS then? I can't hondata... I'm driving a/t can you get a valve train for a/t? and how much is it?
Thanks for the answer btw.
