Default Need opinions on which CF hood.

Hello,

I'm looking for a carbon fiber hood that fits my '88' rex w/ZC. I've been looking at "VIS", "Seibon", "grade A (ebay)", and people have mentioned "Fiber Images" but I haven't seen their hoods around much.

Which hood company would you guys recommend?

thanks in advance!

What should we look for with the hoods on Ebay? Just about all of them say Grade A, clearcoat, etc. Are there any we should avoid? I saw one for $199 + $150 shipping that looked pretty good. Here's a link:

What do you think of it? My Fiber Images hood on my daily CRX has faded, so I'm gonna put that one on my turbo project, and buy a new one for the daily.

Do you recommend getting a couple extra coats of clearcoat?

I may be interested...send me a PM and we'll talk about it..Oh and the style I'm looking for would be for the ZC engine. Usually has either the middle section raised or a little hump over where the cam gears would be....

As far as "Fiber Images" for CF hoods where's a good place to get those?

carbon fiber does not use clear coat...it uses gel coat. I wouldn't trust any company that claims to use clear coat.
There are several methods on how to re-finish your faded, scrathed and otherwise worn out hood. do a search..they usually turn out pretty nice.

ViS eh
SEIBON too expensive for what it is

i got a regular OEM one here, $300+115 for shipping and its urs, brand new in the box never used..perfect "Grade A" condition

with all the recent price jumps in carbon fiber, i wouldnt buy anything that is $199...as the old saying goes..."u get what u pay for"

I have a vis zv vf hood on my hatch ,its nice but my only gripe are the washer nozzles. My nozzles dont fit the holes, wish they didn't put holes in there in the first place.

Avoid EBay seller Carbon_Innovation. They a shop online selling hoods on Ebay. Do not deal with them...you've been warned!!!!
