Some questions
1. Are you using the e-brake while you are doing the burn-out? You shouldn't be doing the burn-out in the water box. You should pull out of the box, until you are no longer sitting in any water. Once you start pulling/dragging the tires, just release the e-brake, your slicks/drag radials are starting to hook-up.
2. Finding the best suspension usually takes a lot of trial and error, as each car responds differently. Generally, you want it pretty stiff in the rear.
3.Again, this is quite preferential. Alot of people like Quaifes as there very well built and maintaince free. Kaaz's can be good, but do require the replacement of the clutch discs over time.

i would make sure your rear tires are completely out of the water box (i had the same problem on my drag radials).
also how much power are you making? the reason i ask is i did a few second gear burnouts to get the tires spinning faster and get them a little hotter.
what i did (and for all i know there are much better ways to do it) is go through the water box, hold the e-brake up very high (or very tight), put the car in second gear, rev the engine, drop the clutch, once the car started to pull foward i kept on the gas and let off the e-brake, still doing the bunout while moving. thoes gave me my best results.
one more thing, what were the track condidtions? was it cold at all because that could really affect it.
