tried tech forum.. nobody responds. well 1 did big whoop!
okay i took off my valve cover and my cam caps to get to my cam seal. i did this without purchasing a torque wrench forceing myself to buy one now. im going to sears tomorrow to purchase one.. what do i need in a torque wrench. 3/8 torque wrench or a 1/2? and how much foot pounds do i really need(for future projects). i dont want to spend over 150 for one. craftsman has one for 65.00$ 1/2 inch with 20 to 150 foot pounds. help me out

if you have future projects i would buy the largest wrench you can find with the broadest spec then buy smaller ones later just make sure it fits the spec you are using now
I don't think there's anything on a civic that's going to need moe than 100lb/ft. I have a snap-on 20-100 its awesome. the only catch is that a lot of stuff is like 14lb /ft or around that. go with 20-100, I have this one

What about crank pully bolts, or axle nuts? Those are looking at 135lbs.
It really depends on what your really going to do. If your going to be changing tires/rims often (like if you were at the track) then go with the 1/2 inch one for that. If its just little **** here and there then just get the 3/8ths. I have both and there great.

IMO these are the best. The red box is for storage. It's sold seperately and can only be purchased online from sears.
The 3/8" wrench is adjustable in .5 lb increments from 5-80 ft.lbs.
The 1/2" wrench is adjustable in 2 lb increments from 25-250 ft.lbs.
Also displays newton-meters. The best display ever.
The tightest bolt on a honda is the axle nut (134 ft.lbs).
The difference is the amount of torque they can handle before breaking. I snapped a 3/8" breaker bar trying to remove an axle nut once. The axle nut was no match for my 1/2 drive breaker bar.

i have the 1/2 craftsman. it worries me that the end of it is plastic. i posted on another one i had awhile back(cant remember where i got it). anyway, took car to a friends shop after installing aspec with 22mm sway and found out that the wrench was off by 7 ft.lbs(not the craftsman). he had the digital snap-on. it beeps and vibrates.
