Default Bad Tranny..???

Ok..

1. Gears seem slightly rough when engaging into each one.

2. 1st and 2nd gear occasionally pop out while driving at low rpms.

3. 2nd gear makes a grinding noise but slides right into gear, an other times doesnt go in at all.. Just feels like theres something stopping it.

4. Sitting at idle i hear a rubbin/grinding noise, press in the clutch an noise goes away.

5. Its the stock DX tranny that came with my old dx motor <140,xxx approx miles> I used it on the swap cuz I didnt buy one w/ the motor "which i should have".

6. If it is the tranny, I already have a friend who wants to sell me his but I want shorter gears an im not sure how to read the Labels on trannys, so if someone could clarify the difference in S20, S40, A000, B000..??? I heard theres a certain EX tranny that has long gears an i dont wanna get dooped into buying that one.. S20 B000 is the sohc si tranny right..??

I've searched, no luck besides general opinions, im a valued HT Member so no flaming is necessary.. Just curious as to anyone else maybe experiencing this same issue or has resolved it, thank you..

Well as far as getting a new tranny... I want a single cam SI tranny cuz it has the shortest gears an thats what im aiming for "N/A" an if i decide to go turbo later ill just rebuild my DX tranny.. But besides that, what im really wondering is the codes... how can u decipher them? The A000 B000 S20 S40..?? I've searched an cant seem to find a listing of "tranny to car" matches.. U kno how like they have that one post with all the honda cars an all there motors with all the specs... Im lookin for one with Tranny Codes... Any help...??

easy to figure out what it is to an extent, heres the rundown. A00=cx/vx/dx/lx (these have differant gears (cx/vx being the same and dx/lx being the same) B00=ex/si tranny, they are all P20 and all have the label S20 on the side facing the radiator. the ex/si trannies are all identical except some 5th gears. mostly the SI hatchback w/ the .750 5th compared to the others having .702 5ths.

hmm something new..!!

well after analyzing an finally just figuring that my 2nd gear was shot i found something else out today... When im leaving a dead stop from first going to shift into 2nd if i turn the wheel a smidge to the right an go in 2nd it works fine, if i do the same procedure an have the wheel turned a smidge to the left GRINNNNNNDDDD city happens, an it doesnt go in gear... I've repeated this like 20 times an it works everytime when i have the wheel turned right but not once when the wheel is turned left... Both my C/V Axles are completely secured in cuz i thought maybe they were popped out or something, so does this still equal bad tranny or maybe something else..??

its definatly your input shaft bearing...you should either fix that tranny you have in the car or its time for a new one or else your cars gonna be in a world of hurt

prettymuch buy a new(used) tranny cause its wayyyy cheaper than rebuilding it. not sure about which tranny's which though.
