TPS
Hey guys.
So I replaced my throttle cable on saturday (which was needed-DX way too long). Now my car won't stay started. It turns over just fine and is getting fuel, it just doesn't want to stay running. When I try to give it gas at start up, it does nothing. The body opens up and everything, but it's like the ECU doesn't know that the throttle is open at all. I even disconnected the TPS, tried to start it and the car did the same thing, so I don't know what that tells me. Any clues?
Also, I have a obd0 b16 throttle body. Should I try and swap that in to see if it is in fact the tps? (I have an OBD0 DOHC ZC)
The check engine light is not going on and I haven't checked for any codes (no light bulb on the one I'm using, but I have another one at my house I can use to check codes).
Any input would be GREATLY appreciated. And I did SEARCH, but couldn't really find too much.

Maybe in the process of changing your throttle cable you accidently disconnected something. If you are thinking that the TPS sensor is bad, check the voltage on it. Just get a volt meter and test the center wire and see what you have.
Question: What about the idle screw on the TB? The guy that did my swap said that when he did it, the idle screw was stuck and he could not adjust it at all, so he suggested that I will need a new throttle body. Could a change in the cable make a big enough difference to make things the way they are without adjusting the idle screw?
no. if you said that your old cable was too long and you changed it, shouldn't make a difference as long as your butterfly isn't open when you press on the gas. It sounds like a bad tps. pull your negative battery cable for a few min and then put it back on and try to start the car again.
Ok, so I was sick of fooling around with it and decided to take it to a local shop. They identified the problem as being the ignition switch. I guess the "on" position was just shot. It wouldn't let the spark keep going. But thanks for all of your suggestions anyway.
