Default D16A6 Block Question

I have currently disassembled my d16a6 engine, i have measured the cylinders and found out that the cylinders are out of round and tapered.

i called a machine shop to ask how much it was to re-bore the cylinders bigger and they recommened simply re-ringing the motor.

I was wondering if this was a better way to do my re-build or if i SHOULD re-bore and get new cylinders. Any info would help greatly, Thanks

If they are out of round and tapered beyond specs, then you definitely need to overbore. The most you go is 0.5mm. Or you can go 0.25mm.

If i re-bore i will have to go to .050mm, but the machine shop said that i can simply re-ring..... i don't understand thier logic.

Any info helps
