I was looking at a car (ej6 with b18c1 48k miles just bolt ons) tonight and the owner told me that it was burning like 2 qt of oil every 2 weeks (light came on). I talked to a buddy whos a honda tech and he said the ringlands (sp?) could be shot. I asked what I could do if I were to buy it and he said it might have to be rebuilt. He didn't really elaborate. Anyone care to elaborate on this situation? Thanks

 

If a b18c is burning oil at 48k the previous owner probably treated it like ****. It could be a number of things rings, valve seals, ect. I would bring it to a mechanic first before you buy it.

 

Ya I was going to buy it but I reconsidered I didn't want to have to rebuild the engine yet
