My Si loses power... Please HELP!
Aite... so i've had the cell's checked and they have read either "fuel is too rich" or "misfire" in one of my cylinders.. the problem is when driving and having the throttle open at a constant speed... my car occasionally loses power then regains it... it feels like a sudden lag in power or a bogg... I've replaced the sparkplugs, wires, distributor cap, and distributor rotor. Nothing helped... Some other symptons are occasionally my idle is higher then normal, reving at about 1.3-1.5 grand. Usually when that happens, i notice i lose my vtec. Does anyone have any other ideas or have experienced similar problems? The loss of power never occurs when accelerating... only at a constant speed. Thanks in advance for your help..

No neither of those will cause the car to stumble only at steady RPM cruising. If it was the 02 sensor the car would not idle right either. IF it was tps he would complain about the car doing it all the time not just cruising.
it is the distributer, they go bad, its normal. Just replace it. Look for "distributer King" on HT, he's got the best prices.

yes, you can. i had to actually, it was a little on the expensive side, but it was worth it... and as for the bog as constant speed... id put my money on injectors... and that cefoam cleaner stuff helps... but nothing tops a cleaning when you take them out and bring them to a shop and they clean them like new... i had to have this done on my last car and it drove like new afterwards... the fuel treatment was no comparison

The TPS most certainly could... I had one that had a "dead spot" in it... rather than a clean sweep from .45 to 4.5 it went to 0 at 1/3 throttle. Tell me that wouldnt' do exactly what he's describing.
Someone else told me it was the distributor, swapped it out and guess what.... no change... same problem

occasionally.. my idle goes bad too... after driving a bit.. sometimes it jumps up to 1.5 grand... it doesnt correct itself untill i turn off the engine and start it up again... i noticed taht when it does that.. i lose vtec... I will look into getting antoher distributor.. check my spark plugs again.. and either get new or clean the injectors... If you guys got any other ideas.. keep them comming... cuase from what i read before.. alot of people just replaced the wires cap and rotor and plugs and the problem was fixed... i did all that and nothign helped...
allright this is motormouths buddy. check the coil in the distributor. take it out and look at the black casing. if it has burnt purple discoloring on it it is starting to fail. this is a common problem. but i agree with the others up there. check your fuel filter. also o2 sensors can cause this problem at highway speed and idle. if they are not reading right after coming off the highway the fuel trim is all whacked out in the ecu. check the idle air control valve. unplug it at idle. if the engine stalls adjust the bleeder screw on the throttle body until it idles without the iacv plugged in.
these are all basic things to checkout before you startgetting too in depth with it. also check any wires you may have soldered once upon a time or used crappy krimp connectors on. those cause alot of random problems.

best way to check the o2 is a scan tool. you can do it with a volt meter. it should switch when running from .1 to .9 volts slowly at idle and alot faster when running the engine at a higher speed. o2s are generally the cause of the kind of problems your talking about. i had a similiar problem with my gsr. only thing that sucks is they are expensive as hell. even aftermarket
hi simular problem happend to me, i did all the same things you did still nothing workd, to find out i went a baught some cheap *** replacement wires for napa and that was the problem. if you baught the wires form napa, discount auto, autozone do your slef a favor and get some oem honda wires or some hot wires. i also advanced the timeing a lilttly bit on the second wire swap. hope this will help sorry if it dosnt ! also might want to replace the pcv vlave it might be the problem too
i bought ngk wires... they are oem.. thanks for the posts guys... i havnt had alot of time to do anythign yet... but ima get on it this weekend when i put in my clutch and fly... i'll see if i can fix everything all at once

Wouldn't that cause it to cause break ups that you feel heavily in acceleration?
