Default Low oil

Will low oil cause erratic engine performance (i know vtec won't engage but will it also cause power to drop off and then spike in the upper rpms?) The light was not one when this was occuring but eventually it went on and now it seems like after a fill the motor is running ok. Would all that be caused by low oil levels?

Additionally it seems I'm burning 2qts or mobil 1 per 3k miles is that excessive?

IMHO that slightly excessive especially if your not in it alot.

Another note never look for the oil light as a low on oil indicator. If the oil light comes on then most of the time your too late. Check you oil whenever you fill up with gas!! A new motor is expensive.

One quart every 1500 miles is not excessive.

One quart every 150 miles is excessive. But that discussion is in a separate topic.

ok, you say you knew it was running low on oil and you knew about it, then the oil light eventually came on, why in the hell would you wait for the oil light to put oil in if you knew it was needed??

THATS TRUE.......

BUT FOR YOUR PROBLEM , I THINK ITS LOW COMPRESSION ON YOUR MOTOR, THATS WHY U KINDA FEEL IT WEAK WHEN ITS IN USE....LOW OIL CUSE ALOT OF PARTS TO WEAR OUT...." ITS LIKE WATER IN A HUMAN BODY "

You're lucky your motor didn't burn up.. It would be a good idea to check your oil at least once a week..

I never said I never knew it was running low. I had refilled it like 1500-2000 miles before the light was on so I did not think my oil was low until the light came on.
