I loosened the nut and took it off with the black mount and then turned the radio on. According to the instructions it says to might have to give it a yank to pull the mast out. Ive tried numerous times and so far nothing. Any other ideas of what I might be able to do?

you need to remove the top nut totally , not just loosen it up

 

its completley removed and the other black piece that goes with it.....

 

than the mast should pull off .. it might be frozen in,,spray some wd 40 in there and let it soak a bit then retry ..

 

still doesnt want to budge....

 

any other options?

 

put some muscle in it ill help you with it when i get home from work i go in at 4 so i can do it before then. along with using the sea foam today,

 

Got it out now. Do I even need a new antenna mast? The one i have looks fine. Isnt the gears to the antenna assembly what I need to fix since it doesnt want to go back down? I checked the old mast and the new one and they dont appear any different as far as the condition other than one being used.

In the next to last picture you'll see the pin you need to shift for the mast lead to make good contact with the drive gear. I'd go ahead and change the mast since you'll have it apart anyway. Also be sure to open the spool side and make sure it all turns freely, and nothing is stuck in there.
