OK I need to move the brake rotor and wheel about 2 or maybe 3 mm out of the hub, so my new brakes fit... Now, could I just get some wide steel rings for each bolt (4 in this case for each rotor & wheel) or should I get a wheel spacer or something?

dont use washers behind the wheel on the studs, it will cause the mounting patch to be lessened and weaken the connection. i bough a teg that was this way once, it also made them not sit flat so they wobbled. just get some spacers.

Though, personally, I don't like using spacers. But spacers are a serious leg up over 4 washers. You need the entire hub & wheel surfaces making pressured contact with each other so they will effectively be a single unit. Otherwise you're overstressing your studs, which are only supposed to support the weight temporarily, not under extreme conditions (e.g. braking & turning increases the load).

 

wait, are you talking about using spacers behind the rotor??? dont even think about that.

 

this question is confusing. if you need to move anything you installed something wrong or are mix maching wrong parts. be more specific and if you are trying to put a small wheel on a spacer will fine temporary but get bigger rims so they don't hit the caliper. (KEY WORD TEMPORARY) i did a gsr front brake upgrade and my hx rims did not fit cause they were 14's i needed 15 or bigger my car sat for the whole weekend on jack stands till i got biger wheels.

 

I'm using ITR caliper with the 23T bracket, it's the outside part of the bracket which hits the rim.

 

then you need to space the wheel. never space a rotor, the caliper can be shimmed but not for the reason you need, only when say the rotor isnt sitting between the bracket right. just use a wheel spacer thick enough to clear, or get differant wheels.

 

I know what you mean but the rotor is hitting the bracket on the inside too...

 

then you have something wrong w/ the combo you are running.
