If you want to be fast, buy a ferrari! Hehe, it's a civic not a race car. However, to answer your question a b16 is a really good solution to your prolblem, it will bolt into a 97, and should be fairly easy depending on the generation of B16 you get. D series is good turbo, but there is not such thing as a D18, D17 is as high as it goes. the new motors '06's are tagged R something ... anyways, a b-series motor will be better N/A than a D series, but if you want you could buy a cheap D and turbo it to make it just as fast if not faster than the B, but with less potential than the B... it all depends on what you want. IF you fry a D, it's probably best to go B. My opinion? Keep the tranny and get a cheeep B16 to bolt up and save the extra $ for parts. But like I said, it is really all up to you.

1. you already have vtec (d16y8).
2. you would gain more power by slapping in a turbo than a B swap with 2 g's
3. d-series turbos are cheap

if i were you i would just go for turbo, its easier to install, better fuel economy, and if the motor blows its cheap to replace

If I were you I would grab b-series while you still can. they are getting rare. a b-series has so much more potential, and when left stock the motor will last forever. And then one day boost it. get some real vtec.

Slap a Turbo on that thing, you'll have so much fun.

A.) no you can't bolt a D-series tranny to the B16

B.) the B16 is a shithouse motor and I would rather buy four D-series VTEC motors than a single B16

C.) with the money you save staying with your D-configuration you'll be able to turbocharge and tune it.

This has to be the most blatently uneducated statement I think I have ever read on honda tech. Go tell honda their engine that changed how many manufacturers make their 4 cylinder engine is a shithouse. You screen name should be removed from hondatech for that. I bet you are one of those people that calls youself a "ninja" and types **** like, "thats jDm y0" like a 3 year old.

You should just buy my somewhat built d16z6 from me, throw it in, and call it a day. check my thread.

Read what you wrote, analyze how you decided to type it and then skip to the end of your post and read your charges against me. Just a suggestion.

I stand by my statement. The B16 is a retarded choice for a swap because it makes less torque than a SOHC VTEC motor and you have to wind it up to 8500rpm to get that "massive" extra 35hp. If you're 16 and enjoy having to wring the **** out of your engine to go away from stoplights, by all means put a B16A in it. If not, maybe choose a B18B or B18C and save yourself the burden of a bad decision.

Stick around, sweetheart: you ain't seen nothin' yet.

Is that a challenge or what? I could drive up the road to Marysville and shout something to that effect at the edifice constructed there, but I doubt anyone would give a ****. Only in a world of econobox grocery-getters can a 95tq/160hp engine be considered anything other than comical. Funny, my 1995.5 SOHC Neon Sedan ran better times in the 1/4 than any of the dipshit B16 Del Sols and EG's in my area. Does that make the Dodge SOHC "headgasket experiment" a good purchase too?

I'm considering the deletion of your account simply out of personal enjoyment. Obviously you have no idea who I am, what I've done for this community or how you should approach your superiors when you disagree. Is a stinging slap to the pride enough or should I have your IP erased from memory?

You decide.
