Default Why a chipped P28?

Evertime I see a swap going into a hatch (B18C for example) I noticed that the person normaly uses a chipped P28.
I know why they use a P28 but why not just just the ecu from b18c? is it just because its easier? or is there something that just makes it unusable?
I'm looking into getting a 93 CX and have plannes for a B18C swap thats why I'm asking.
Thanks for any help

Not much. p30 has useless knock sensor. You can run p30 code on a p28 and vice versa.

Alot of honda's come with p28's stock. Plus p72 ecus cost more. with the p72 you will have to wire up more things. I prefer p28's But each is to their own. Though if you shooting for bone stock then a p72 is a good choice. honestly there are so many reasons why people go p28.

i used a p28 mainly because i got screwed by the guy i got my engine from. i got no wiring harness, or ecu. so i instead of dumping another $300+ into the swap i poured 180 for the chipped p28 which plugged right in because it is obd1. the engine i have is a 97 integra gsr which is obd2. ergo, why i used the p28.

runs great though. plus i like being able to change out the chips if i'm not racing or whatever.

p.s. this does mean that i have a p72 for sale. i found out about the p28 deal afterwards. but, you live and you learn. anyone reading this who is thinking about a swap, DO YOUR HOMEWORK. OR ELSE
