amp rating on ignition switch 96 civic
I got bored recently and decided to home make a push button start. something like an airplane. two toggles, two momentary. remove the key permanently.
problem I'm running into. amp ratings on the switches to buy.
I've got the wiring diagram and there's a 40a fuse protecting the ignition switch itself. 40a rated switches I'll need? the wires to the switch itself are pretty thick. I haven't tested the exact gauge.
some help on the subject would be greatly appreciated.
is there any way to work around the high amp wires? I can't seem to locate any 40a switches in stores nor online.

Use any little bling switch, and a relay. Relays take a small signal and use it to make a connection of a larger strength.

I think it's just a 40a for the whole thing. That is to say 40a going into the main switch but it leaving in different directions. You plan on having a switch for each of these directions. Some for the "acc" some for the "on" and some for the starter. If you look you will probably see one fat wire going in but some smaller ones leaving. At least that's what I remember from the last time I took apart and ignition switch. Maybe a few 10a switches?
