Default Very, Very weird question.......

Ok, If I remove my bumper supports for reasons of weight reduction...and I get into an accident would my insurance company deny payment bc of the fact that I had no bumper supports???

Also, How much do factory hoods weigh? and how much weight would I shave off my going with a CF hood?

you'd save a few pounds, and have a large, resistant-to-deforming guillotine pointed at your head...especially if you remove your bumpers. the hood is very much a part of a modern car's crumple-zone strategy....probably best to get a CF hood after a cage that will help keep it from your neck.

Well, I shaved 86lbs buy removing the calipers, rotors , master cylinder, and lines. And that steering wheel is heavy as fu¢k, too. All you REALLY need there is a pair of vice grips.

I've heard this before here. Is there any proof of this happening or is it just speculation?

as stated above, the Euro Aussie..etc.. dont have them.. draw your own conclusions...

And NO. A CF hood WILL NOT become a "razor" and cut your head off. CF is very brittle and will splinter into a million pieces, even when coming into contact with a shattered windshield

Ok, we've determined:

Aussies and UK ITRs don't have bumper supports
Irish aren't butt-pirates
Vegeta is smoking crack
And CF hoods are still a question mark.

But the original question, What would the Insurance company do if you get in an accident with no bumper supports and say a Benen Rear Strong bar?

Total the car... and not cover it because you altered its structural integrity..

OR...

NOTHING and pay out like normall.. depends on the company that insures you..

I would think if you got rear ended, and your entire back 1/4 of the car was demolished by a 5 mph impact, and the body shop started fixing it, saying what's wrong here, why doesn't this look like my helms, someone might raise a flag... Just my though.

I'd love to take out the bumper supports and replace them with the Strong Bar, I'm just a little scared of what would happen in a rear end collision... I'm all about saving as much weight as I can... I'm slow enough as it is!

I suppose, I guess I just kinda figure that everyone's got a favorite body shop where they know the people and no one would raise the issue. The bodyshop shouldn't give a rats *** either way.

Do the JDM/EuroDM, etc have anything at all there? (Front and rear) Or is it smaller or what?

Wut is this strong bar j00 speak of?
