I think on a street driven car, there are better and easier places to loose 2lbs of weight.

Contrary to popular belief, the weight of the average bowel movement rarely exceeds 1lb.

I cut most of the hood reinforcement on my old CRX to clear the motor, never had any problems.

Those reinforcements weigh alot. A stock EG hood is like 30 lbs, and a sheet of steel is not the majority of that weight. Therefore, most of the weight is in the reinforcements. This is what most of the speed world challenge cars do, because they cant run carbon fiber body panels. They say that at speed, the hood will flap and hit the valve cover, and get dented. Function over fashion.

Yeah I've weighed myself before and after a few times and there is hardly a noticable difference.

ooh off topic..
yeah the slicing and dicing will not be too nice on a daily driver... very flappy hood = funked up valvecover plus there is not that much weight to be saved, I mean, what 10 pounds? whoopdeedoo....
Now, if that makes the hood less strong, and you get it dented and then your insurance company pays for a new hood and gives you the $700, then you can go and buy a $400 cf hood plus a lightweight battery and a day at a track driving school... go for it

They'd catch a beat down whether I had hood reinforcements or not.....
