Default 99-00 harness in a 96-98

ok putting my civic stock motor back in i need to know if a 99-00 harness will work in a 96 car. i have the 99 ecu.. please help me..

If your asking whether OBD2b harness will power an OBD2a vehicle...
yes as i recall a later obd2 will be able to jive with a earlier obd2 interior harness.

Maybe an extra connector
wait for other confirmation.

it should work, unless its an SI, Sis dont work in the other modles becuz 2 clips on the harness go to the ecu and then the car has its own wire running the the ecu

i dont know if this is true maybee

but i do know an 99-00 si engine harness has 2 plugs that go directly to the ecu, and a 98 civic engine harness has 3 plugs that go to the ecu and they are not interchangeable.

it will work if u swap in the 99 interior dash harness.. otherwise no.... u need the same year harness
