those projectors werent meant to use hid bulbs.they were used with regular bulbs.you could get them and retro in a set of tsx or s2000 projectors then it might work.

You really should learn how to type.. It is angel eye not angle eye too... ANYWAYS, I think he is saying don't get HIDs in those headlights because there not made for them. If you want bright headlights for those then get some Sylvania Silverstars. HIDs are liable to melt to somehting..

blackv6 came closest. It's all about heat.

HID's generate their increased brightness and output from increased heat (up and above that seen on conventional Quartz Halogen Bulbs).
Most of these "angel Eye" projector lamps you find on EBay are designed for H series Halogen bulbs and don't offer sufficient clearance or thermal protection required for HID's.
I've heard of some of the "cheaper' sets actually melting from the heat.

My HID kit actually burns cooler than my ricer 9006 bulbs ever did. I remember my lense would be hot to the touch and my HID kit in stock housings never got that hot.

But were you using the angel eyed headlight housing or an OEM headlight housing???

its not the heat only. its that the shape of the lens is different and doesnt bend the light right so it looks like garbage.

Im using OEM housings but that doesnt matter. The aftermarket Ricer bulbs burn way hotter than a regular HID kit. If you stick those Ricer bulbs into the aftermarkets they will do worse than sticking in a HID system. a HID systems generates less heat.

Either way the problem isnt the HID causeing to much heat because these ricer bulbs create much more.

People dont recommend it because the projector itself sucks.

I have an HID system in my angel eye projectors and they are great.
The cutoff is excellent. Light on the road is great. Much better than stock bulbs or even the popular Silverstars. It is not as good as a retrofit, but pretty much the closest thing to a retrofit that you can get. I have actually had quite a few people ask me if it was a retrofit. Here are a few pictures of the light output compared to a stock Integra, as well as the cutoff.

I ran H3 HID's in my ex gf's 98 civic ex with angel eye projectors and they were fine and ran cooler than bulbs. The most heat will be generated at start up from what I understand about HID's. The cutoff was fine.
