Default Transmission Question - Will a '95si 5spd work on a 97ex 5spd?

Yes? No? Any further mods needed to be done to make one work?

it is a bolt on part with your engine and car.

the only difference between the two transmissions is the later has a stronger shift arm lever.

You need to put the '97 mount on the '95 transmission(upper mount).
It bolts right on.

it bolts up fine, i believe the dust shield won't fit (so no mudbogging in the civic)

I have never heard of any mount issue existing between 92-95 and 96-00

aluminum shift forks only matter when you abuse the tranny.

soft aluminum forks break (breaking only the fork)
steel forks bend (taking other stuff out with it)

but that doesn't matter, because I am sure that you (or your customer) won't be abusing their transmission

yup, del sol si and civic si (92-95) have a 0.750 instead of a 0.702

that 6.4% difference in gearing is the HUGE difference between the ex and the SPORTS VERSION!!!!!!

Its not a plug in and play

You will need to re-wire the speed senser as the connections are different. Its a matter of cutting the old wires and soldering the correct sensor with the motor.

It wont fit. If you disconnect the old sensor and try pluggin it into the new 97 sensor, the connection is different

just a simple solder job

ya know, come to think about it, i left the newer tranny sensor in. i didnt try to change out the old one and put it in the new tranny. But i know the plugs wont line up so all i didnt was clip and solder.

turn the connetor 180, it plugs right in, so swap the VSS.

Yes they interchange, matter of fact you can install a 5g/6g VSS into a cable tranny, drops right in.

Bense, nice job holding down the fort here

I was wondering that same thing. I like cheap hp. I want two cam shafts, but until I get a career, the D is fun for tinkering.

No, that's not what I meant. I would just prefer to have a B18b in my hatch than a d16y7. 106 hp is ****. I could get a different engine, that won't be tomorrow or anything. But that's just my opinion. I would like to get 160 out of a d though. Just so I can say I get 100 hp to the liter.

b-series parts are expensive. I just got a d-series dizzy shipped to me for 28 dollars. used b-series parts go for 2x-4x the amount of d-series
