if your talking about gutting your stock cat then make sure you have a extra one if you dont like it. It does give you some more hp but to me i dont like the smell of it.

I gutted my cat only because it was stopped up and im to cheap to buy a new cat or test pipe. It sounds like a wet fart in high rpm, where it did'nt before and if I get on it there is a slight smell.

gutting your stock cat makes your exhaust tone take a dump, like said before, it sounds like a wet fart

dont do it... complete waste. I did it to my car when i first got it and it threw a CEL, smelt like **** and made the exhaust sound hollow. For the very minimal power gains u recieve its not worth it...

if your car is obd2 it will throw a cel because of the secondary o2 sensor

if its obd1 then you shouldnt have and cel's

I thought about putting on a test pipe but I'm having second thoughts after reading this thread. But if I should still decide to do it, what test pipe is the best to go with? I'll be using this for various track days & auto x events.

I am also thinking about getting a test pipe. My car is converted obd1 with a P30. If I change to a test pipe, I will either get a SKunk2 or an Omni.
Not to thread jack but will the thread has been made.
How much HP do you gain by swapping to a test pipe?

I was considering an OMINI but from what I found out it has an adjustable centerpiece, not being a solid unified pipe that might cause a mild leakage or who knows what else?

Why are you guys wondering what a Good test-pipe is,
it's a Straight pipe with flanges on it, you can't mess that up too much.

Even have a muffler shop make one up if need be, just have the Right flanges.

and at the Very most slammed, you might make 5hp off a test pipe,
I'm not saying average either, that could be the most you will make off it.

You would notice a much larger gain if the car was turbo'd,
but a lower hp n/a engine won't make a whole lot off no cat.
