Q: about 17" mag offset on a 6th gen coupe
hello!
i want to put 17" wheels on my 2001 coupe. its a 4cyl.
i have not yet found a specific model, but i really like the 5 branches style, with a polished lip. ideally i would like to run on 215/45/17 or even 215/50/17. i am not sure if i need to go with 17x7 or 17x7.5 wheels for this application...
and about the offset; i plan on dropping my car between 1.5" and 2" (h&r sports, or try the eibach sportlines i got for dirt cheap). Ive seen a couple of wheels almost sticking out of the fenders, wich isnt nice. what offset do i need to keep it inside, and not being scared of rubbing. Keep in mind i am going to run 215 tires.
thank you all!

Your stock tire height is 25.0 inches. For the drop of those sportlines, you should use a 215/45/17 tire which will give you a 24.6 inch height to prevent rubbing, making your speedo about 1mph slow at 60mph... but then again, I don't know why you would use a 215 tire in the first place... +40 to +45mm offset should be good.
225/50/17 would make your tire 26" tall, an inch taller than stock. This would only worsen the rubbing problem. 225/45/17 is a perfect match to the stock height, and with a +42 offset, would fit excellent.

AFAccord, you mentioned that the speedo will be off by using the 215 tires. Which size of tires would be perfect for a 17" rims with Neuspeed sports springs?
Wait, just want to be sure, 225/45 17 would be the perfect size with the lowering springs right? When you said that the 225/45 was perfect match for the stock height, are you talking about the height of the wheels?
Sorry but I just want to be clear. Thanks a lot though for your fast reply.

Stock Tire = 195/65/15 = 25.0" tire height
Correct Tire for = 225/45/17 = 25.0" tire height
17x7" rim
Closest size 215 = 215/45/17 = 24.6" tire height = 1 mph off at 60mph
tire for 17x7" rim
Correct Tire for = 225/45/17 = 25.0" tire height
17x7" rim
Closest size 215 = 215/45/17 = 24.6" tire height = 1 mph off at 60mph
tire for 17x7" rim
