Default 1.8 l dohc sputters when i step on the gas

I am having some troubles with my 1990 integra, it seems to idle fine and when i accelerate really gradually it has no trouble and goes fine but as soon as you step on the pedal a little harder it starts to sputter like crazy and almost sounds like a v-twin. Does anyone know wat is going on i checked plugs and distributor cap and ran some fuel injector cleaner through it should i go get them flushed? any suggestions would be great thanks.

check your injectors, or replace them and the wiring, checking the injectors is a pain in the *** because you have to check the resistance on every one and they wont all be uniform

I had and now am having the same problem... i changed my plugs and regapped them and it went away but now it is back slightly. I did find its a misfire under acceleration.

Im going to check my cap and rotor next i dont know if you already have had it replaced or not yet but its either spark or fuel and my bet is spark. Hope it goes well, let me know if you find anything its been pissing me off and im not one to just go out and buy a ton of parts till its fixed. Good luck.

Hmmm... This must be pretty common with the 1.8. My DA does the exact same thing. Dont have the enz to fix right now tho. By the way, how are Bo and Luke Duke???

If your rotor has gotten to the point where theres is enough corrosion to cause misfire it should be replaced not just cleaned. I cleaned mine and its now way better but im still going to replace.

Just ordered oem cap and rotor 37$ will have it by this weekend and will let you all know if the problem has completely been solved.

i think i got the whole thing figured out took it to lube city today and we flushed the injection system u should have seen the gunk behind the throttle body and the smoke when we ran the cleaner through it haha seems to run good now take off ur intake and open the throttle butterfly and look in there with a flash light see how dirty it is

Use a multi-meter to check your plug wires.

This problem is usually due to spark, not fuel.

Check for a bad ground in your main harness or the distributor is going bad.
