Default Anyone read Dragracingonline.com?

Saw this from the Agent 1320 today. -->SPORT COMPACTS IN THE NEWS

Car counts continue to drop at NHRA Sport Compact events. At the recent Nitto Nationals at Moroso Motorsports Park this past weekend there were five Pro RWD, three Pro FWD, six Modified, four Hot Rod and seven Honda Tuning All Motor cars. Rumors keep coming out of NHRA that the sanctioning body will pull the plug on the series at the end of the season. With continued declining car counts at their events, who could blame them?

Looks like the end is coming. You can only expect them to lose money for so long before they pull the plug.

Even if NHRA pulls the plug on sanctioning sport compact drag racing, sport compacts will still be whooping on the domestic crowd at nearly every race track in the US. I have fun going to my local track (Sacramento) and playing with the domestic V-8's (even though they usually slaughter me).

well with venues like midget wresteling and drifting and hooochie contests who would have thunk it.......

my god we have seen a huge decline in seats being filled for the last 3 years. every ones on this ,,,if i say it aint true it aint true crap..

we grew way tooo quick over spent and over screwed the companies that put cash into race teams.

we allowed nhra and nopi to change the rules and playing field way too fast (like street class with nhra) to screw over the grassroots guys.

we started grass roots and will continue grass roots when nhra pulls out. well be left with boti and nopi which will later fall by the way side for the same reason nhra has.

all flamers saying im wrong read my post as early as 1 year ago and see i said the end is coming....javi was "demoted" from nhra and a college geek took his place..in other words a grass roots guy was replaced by a numbers guy.

you guys dont give the domestic guys enough credit in knowing whats going on in nhra..its not just some writer that hates imports(which im sure he does anyway) but he just be a no punches pulled kinda guy.

from nhra and nopi not doing enough or the right advertising in the area of the event about to be held to people like bob norwood and adam swuaratari killing the scene with taking companies money and shitting it down there gold plated toilets.

i believe those 2 issues are and have killed our industry. i may be alittle off but not very far.

its not about the fun of the sport anymore its numbers and there not there....its not the racers that pay for the sanctioning bodies to hold events its the asses in the stands and the teeshirts and the consession stands that keep them buying the calendar for a event.

I think once the sanctioning bodies come to the northeast mid atlantic region(VA,MD and NJ) you'll see a whole lot more cars and a whole lot more people. And statistically. these areas have the biggest crowds and the larger car counts.

And i dont think that this sport grew too fast. i think that having a set guideline on rules and equal parity is something that we dont have in this sport. with so many different combos its hard to regulate all the rules and enforce them as well.

When you have RWD racing with FWD,there is no parity. which in turn makes boring from a spectator stand point. Not only that, you'll have competitors crying about not being able to compete.

I also think the entry fees should be a little cheaper as well.in hopes that will bring in more people. just my 2pennies
