NSCRA goes to MIR for 2010
As the NSCRA wrapped up its 2009 season, it had already begun forging ahead for the 2010 season. First on its list was gathering the support of other tracks nationwide in order to expand its region-based series. The NSCRA is proud to announce it has formed a partnership with Maryland International Raceway in order to begin its expansion of the Northeast Regional Points Championship Series. "The NSCRA will be able to give our Sport Compact racers more exposure and will be a great partner going into the future, helping further grow the sport of compact racing that we all love," said Jason Miller, Event Director and Promoter of Maryland International Raceway. "John Brown and the rest of the NSCRA staff and myself are working closely over the next few weeks to get the class rules established for 2010 by the end of January that will appeal to cars all around the country. We are very excited about this venture at MIR with the NSCRA and we will see you all at the strip!"
The NSCRA is extremely excited to have Maryland International Raceway as part of its rapid growth. Maryland International Raceway will be welcoming all NSCRA racers, fans, and sponsors along with the established sport compact racers and fans in the region to their facility in hosting three NSCRA races in 2010 for the Northeast Points Championship Series. The 2010 NSCRA Northeast dates will be as follows: June 13, 2010, July 25, 2010, and September 19, 2010.
Maryland International Raceway has been hosting Sport Compact events since 1996 and looks forward to helping the industry and market grow with its partnership with the National Sport Compact Racing Association. Maryland International Raceway will also hold their famous 15th annual U.S. Army World Cup Finals (Import vs Domestic) event on Saturday & Sunday, November 6-7th that will end their racing season.

So what happens to the imstar events that were scheduled for those dates? I guess IMSTAR is dead?
What are the rules for the classes and what are the payouts for the respective classes?

I sure hope that those are not the rules posted above because those rules SUCK. If the rules are not close to the same as the 2009 Imstar/WCF rules then they'll be a lot less racers.....

I agree 100%, i just spent the last 15 minutes thumbing through those rules and they suck.
I was excited about the imstar events for this year and this just took the wind out of my sails.

something doesnt sound right w/ that....
i doubt jason would get rid of imstar and replace it w/ nscra
im thinking maybe they combined the events as one series and are forming a new set of rules???

Yea I planned on running true street once again. And now it's lookin like there's not a class for 67mm. Hopefully it will be joined but I doubt it will. But I guess will see what happens.

I hope this gets resolved quickly. I know alot of people who have there cars built around IMstar rules no these rules.
Don't let us down Jason.
22x9 Slick for FWD turbo cars. WTF is that. i have a brand new pair of MT 24.5's for next year. And now there useless.

Re: NSCRA goes to MIR for 2010
This is really disappointing. The concept of a multi Track series is exciting but not when it's only two tracks and they are 950 miles from eachother. I can't see racers from either region going to the distant track 3+ times a year just to chase points. I know I won't, especailly when it's already a hike to get to MIR from NJ.
I hope Jason Miller comes in here soon and addresses our concerns.

Re: NSCRA goes to MIR for 2010
Yes, it is true that we are teaming up with NSCRA. They have alot of resources to pour into the events in the Northeast and help grow the sport.
The racing classes is something we are working on. I have discussed them at length with John and we are working on changes to accomodate racers in the Northeast. I would like to see True Street class remain unchanged from our IMSTAR structure. And work on details for the Street Outlaw 6cyl and Street Outlaw 4cyl. Or possibly run it like we do Wild Street where they are combined with different weights and turbo sizes like Wild Street and True Street has been.
I will be in the MIR office all week from 8:30-5pm and feel free to contact me at 301-884-9833 for any of your concerns. I am simply trying to standardize this sport the best I can and try to get a national set of rules done. None of the other tracks wanted to join me with IMSTAR so this was a logical plan in working with the NSCRA. Alot of rules need to be addressed and figured out for sure and I am working on that as we speak. We have set a final date of January 18th as when the rules will be final. Whats on NSCRA's site right now is not the final 2010 rules. Shoot John Brown at NSCRA an email and let them know what you would like to see, he is a good guy and will work hard for our sport, so lets be positive and work towards the future. I really want to make sure that all the cars that were planning on running IMSTAR has a place to race, and the only difference being which logo is on the event flyer.

Right now from what I understand with John Brown, alot of things are still on the table. So they are up for discussion.

Also the 3 races in the Northeast will be a stand alone points series and have it's own Northeast Champions for 2010. You will not need to attend the Florida races for the Northeast Championship.
