Default engine temp is higher

i changed my thermostat, its from schucks with prestone antifreeze. my normal operating temp was 1/4 of the way before, now its 1/2 way. i think either its the antifreeze not being from honda, or its a high temp thermostat (i didnt check when i bought it, and threw away the box).

would having a higher operating temp cause premature wear? such as seals, gaskets, etc since the engine is hotter, tranny is hotter. and also would tranny oil and engine oil wear out faster because its hotter?
