WARNING! Water in trunk problem! Check it out now!
Hey guys, I've always heard stories of Honda owners (all models) finding water in their trunks. I've owned 2 Integras, 2 Preludes, an RSX, it's never happened. After a torrential downpour today, I found nearly 2" of standing water in my trunk of my 06 Si.
I was driving and I thought I heard water sloshing, it really bugged me but I didn't think of it, went to the grocery store, and when I popped the trunk I lifted the spare cover and saw a damn lake in my spare area of the trunk. I went home removed the spare, wiped it all up, and found the source.
The driver side carpet in the trunk was soaked, all the padding and sound deadening was super saturated. I pulled it all out, and the clear drain tube thing that runs from the roof area along the side of the car and then drains in the wheel well had come out of the black drain elbow piece.
Thus, everything that traveled through that clear tube drained right into my trunk.
I've not touched anything on this car yet, so it popped out on it's own. I am going to have to fix it tomorrow, either couple it with larger hose, a clamp, or duct tape. Anyhow, CHECK THIS NOW before you all become a victim like I did.
I'm just warning you all now, I am so pissed my brand new had 2" of water in the trunk, soaked carpeting and mat, etc. I will notify the dealer, and perhaps get them to replace the carpet if it begins to mildew. But I think I caught it early enough.
Anyhow, you all check out the clear drain tube ASAP... it falls out of the black drain elbow very easily. I will take pics of the area tomorrow.
Thanks for reading, hope this helps some of you all.

I just don't want anyone else to go what I just did. I am so mad. I just opened my trunk and was in disbelief. Like I thought I was dreaming that my brand new car had a lake in the trunk. I soaked it all up with chamois and towels and found the source and am drying it out right now.
Like I said, I'll take pics of it tomorrrow during the day and show exactly where the leak was coming from for those who don't know what I'm talking about.
If you pull back the carpeting on the driver side of the trunk, you'll see it plain as day, a clear tube maybe 1" in diameter and it enters a black elbow looking piece. it came out of it (it's in there loosely and not that deep).
okay, not from the Si, but this is the culprit. this is taken from a 94-01 Integra. It's the same exact guy that caused the swimming pool in my trunk. See that black elbow? Do whatever it takes to make sure that tube stays in that elbow. It popped out of mine sometime between today and when I bought the car a few months ago (on it's own). so just if you care enough to take the time and secure it now and save yourself the cleanup later.

I wonder if this applies to ALL 06's?
Looking to purchase an 06 EX sedan in the near future. I would of taken it back to the dealer with the water still in the trunk. I understand your frustration and would be pi$$ed as well

Okay here is my "fix" (hopefully). Disconnect the two tubes and wipe the outside of the clear one and the inside of the black elbow thouroughly, making sure neither of them feel slick or greasy (this was the problem).
Insert the clear tube into the drain as deep as it will go (indicated by the blue mark on the tube). wrap the connection very thouroughly with duct tape, and zip ties.
fixed? we'll see.

You all might consider looking at this. I haven't done anything to my car or touched anything to make me the cause of the issue, it just happened. And literally 2" of standing water is not a fun thing to look at or clean up. Good luck, hope I saved someone some future trouble.

The tube is a drain for the sunroof since it goes back into the roof, that cavity would get filled up with water if the drain wasn't there. I know that cause i had a 90 Accord Ex with the same tube and i found out what it was when we were replacing the rear quarter panel.
THanks I'll check it out too, I'm hearing some weird noise from my car too I'm not sure if that's the case though.
Wow that would **** me off. I wouldn't hesitate to take that to the dealer and let them clean it up, then replace all the carpeting. Screw that....thats **** poor design. Just make the tube and elbow one piece, wtf.
wow thats scary, My 06 Si has been through a few rain storms already, havent had any water in my trunk, but I may still take a look at that hose on mine. My question is, WHY did you fix this on your own? I would have taken mine back and told them to replace it ALL. anything that was touched by water, replaced.
I wonder if this will become an issue... scary thought though, especially as spring approaches.

****.......
maybe i had same problem with my R
as you stated, it'd only be damp on the driver's side
and i thought it was leaking from the taillights since taillights were getting condensation also
so i sealed it up with silicon real tight and it got little better
but through heavy rain, it'd still get wet so i was like wtf?!?!?!?!
but my R is gone now...........
thanks for finding out tho.......
i'll check for that tube next time that kinda **** happens to any of my Honda cars

My 88 CRX Si has the exact same design. Never had a problem and the tubes and elbows are in excellent shape.
This is most likely an isolated case caused by a distracted over-paid assembly worker.
unfortunately, this is now going to be a Honda-Tech fact about '06 Si's. "They suck, the trunks leak!!!" lol..
