Intake Showdown
i need to replace my current air filter and i thought why not upgrade. here are my options, rechargable K&N drop in, or ebay short ram w/ K&N filter.
the drop in is around $45, and the short ram w/K&N is $55
Throwing the ebay sri on there isnt going to hurt anything, if nothing else it makes the engine bay look better than with the ugly airbox which is worth the extra $10. You might make a little more power with it too
Wut i would do isjust take out the air box and keep the plastic pipe and change the filter. cuz platic is an insulator and will keep the air more cooler then a metal pipe
ive been investigating as well... currently have a K&N drop in... was thinking SRI with K&N, but I know I wouldnt see much if any power increase, certainly not felt, especially since I am automatic... but If it would help the gas mileage at all, I would be sold. I will be covering over 40,000 miles this summer along. So things like that are actually worth it to me.

So since this past moron wants to increase his post count instead of helping at all. I will share what I have learned from search. Which probably won't help you in your comparison, because it has not so far in mine.
When in short ram or cold air, it all comes down to filter for the most part, with exception of the whale *****. The drop-in K&N does help noticably in response, mileage, and in my opinion some noticable power compared to the stock paper filter. Whether or not a short ram with K&N is better than just the drop-in by so much as 1whp or even a single MPG is unknown to me. It should help with throttle response a bit more though.
