Question about engine corrosion
How do you get this stuff off?
I'm not a chemistry major so the only guess I have is steel wool, or acid. I don't know much about alluminum

Brake cleaner is a power solvent. I think its just like acentone.
I was thinking of someting that would react with the corrosion. LIke tarnish remover for Silver spoons and acid for cleaning cement.

I heard that somone used something called CRC. I dunno what it means.
So far the only method I've found that people say works is acid. Or sandblasting.
And Ive also read not to use steel wool because the fibers will get trapped in the block and rust....
Those guys said the corrosion of alluminum is a natural protectant, like bark on a tree.
But, mine is like the picture and its OUT of control.
and I think if I were going show, I'd powder coat the block.
