Default Power Secrets?...but a question.

Hello everyone, I don't post much, but I haven't seen any threads for generalized power making. I hope maybe everyone can put a couple cents in on this thread. I don't know if any of you have seen Smokey Yuniks(spell check) book, but maybe we can start a Honda version on this website, Hopefully this hasn't been covered already.
Plus I have a question.
Is polishing the inside of the block have any benefit on a Honda? I know American cars with rough cast iron blocks can benefit from this due to oil draining faster and so on and so fourth.
Horsepower gains? Cooler oil temps?

I guess this is a power secret that everyone knows-run synthetic light weight oil to make a little extra power. Just try to stay within the manufacter's specs right?

Peace,
Stephen

Your really not going to get any secrets on this forum...or others for that matter. Some of these engine builders put bread on the table with these "lil secrets" thats just my opinon.

I was just hoping people with some of their own personal experiences would share. Seems like people with Honda's are never willing to share information. Yes I know that makes racing harder, but isn't it all for fun anyway?

Another power tip- Gasket match, if your gasket is pokeing into the airflow, your looseing power. Might not seem like much but for ex.- I went to Universal Technical Institute and was in the HotRod program. With the small block chevy when we gasket matched the intake and threw ice on there it gave us roughly 30 horsepower.

I would attribute most of that gain largely to the lowered intake temps provided by the ice on the manifold...

Not the gasket-matching.

Its not much of keeping secrets. Its just common sense most of the time. you just have to do your research and read up. alot of the "tricks" that you say are all out there on websites, forums, etc.
Port matching, porting, etc are basic things.
All engines benefit with those things.

As engine builders, we do have certain things we wont share with others, but theyre not information that most people would use anyways. Theyre engine building techniques that we've learned from building so many motors. I guess its learned through experience and seeing many different types of builds.

Ya just read up, theres plenty of things out there that you can do and theyre all in websites somewhere. another advice... keep it simple, dont get too crazy.

I know that was a cheesy post I made but hey, nobody else is posting anything.
I was just throwing ideas out there for everyone. I work on cars for a living, so I don't have too much time to play with my own. I would appreciate not getting sarcasim thrown in my face. But anyway. Should I throw another "power tip" out there? I have never felt a difference with this but then again I attempted it on a rotary.

I am not sure if indexing spark plugs on a 4 cyl with 4 valves would be effective, but I suppose its worth a try.

You can try modifing the plugs like Rocket recommends for an extra 1-2 hp
