Check engine - Primary heated oxygen sensor slow response
According to my manual, this sensor controls the air/fuel ratio. I just bought this car, and it has a VAFC installed, which also controls air/fuel ratio, correct? Is it important to take care of this sensor?
The manual also states that the MIL comes on after deterioration of the sensor is detected during two consecutive trips. So if I turn off the ECU memory and turn off the car, I shouldn't get this CEL again the next time I turn on the car, should I? I've got a switch wired to do this ( http://www.ntpog.org/mods/fifth-afc/ecu.shtml ), but no matter which way I flip the switch, the MIL stays on every time I turn on the car. Any ideas/advice?
EDIT: I think I don't have an ECU memory switch, rather it's a valet/bypass switch for my alarm system.

is this a problem that needs attention? Since it only detects a problem after two consecutive trips, I think I can keep the problem from being detected by the ECU if I wire an ECU memory switch so that it forgets the sensor's slow response time every time I turn off the car. Good idea? Bad idea?
