This is so weird!
I know this is going to be long.. but i appreciate your time and patient for sitting here and reading this..
I have a 96 LS Auto .. added AEM SRI, DC Sport 4-1 headers, and Apex N1 exhaust cat back...Tonight i experienced a problem that never occured before even when my car was stock or had the intake and exhaust.. but everysince i had my headers installed this situation happened twice. I'm not sure is it because i didn't have the o2 sensor for the headers.. i asked my machanic but he said i didn't need for a 96 integra.
I was wondering if this ever happened to anyone of you guys.. but here is what happened.. my friend was driving my teggy that night... we were merging into a ramp.. she told me she stepped all the way on the gas to speed up.. all of a sudden my car started to drive by itself.. even if my friend stepped on the brake but my car wouldn't stop..she even put to "N" hoping it wouldn't make the car slow down..and my exhaust was making this weird sound like *vrroom* *vroom* repeatedly so we had it back on D4 and after a few seconds my car was back to normal and we were able to drive it.
Tonight.. the same thing happened again.. we were at a red light.. green light lid up.. she stepped on the gas really hard .. cus she loves the sound of my exhaust .. but anyways.. my car zoom up and continued to operate without my friend's foot on the gas, no matter if she put all of her forced on the brake padle the car wouldn't stop, we had to slowly pull on the parking brake and that's when my car stopped. Lucky there were no cars around us that time.. nor it was traffic hours..
I never experienced this situation by myself.. only when she drived it lols.. she told me that she stepped on the gas really hard.. because she loves to hear the sound of the exhaust.. do u think that my LS couldn't handle the power of the aftermarket parts? Or that i need an o2 sensor ?
By reading my situation.. do u know what went wrong ?
Thanks

maybe her slamming on the gas those two times are getting the line stuck on something? but than again braking would slow down the car but if its not slowing down when brake is applied than theres definately something really wrong. if i were u i wouldnt slam on da gas like shes been doing and also asap take it to the mechanic A GOOD ONE and see if they know what the problem is. if they cant figure it out. try putting the stock headers back on and see if the problem comes back. if it does than of course your headers are fine and i could be something small like ur pedal line getting stick on something or to something big like your tranny ****** up. but for sure man get that shiet checked out. sounds like u cheated death TWICE
. good luck man
fixed up "auto" integ = waste of money

I never jam my foot on the gas that hard .. she had driven my car before with the headers but 2 times this week .. it happened while she's driving it. Damn i threw my stock one away.....So it has nothing to do with the o2 sensor? First time when it happened ... she put to "N" and it repeated made this "vroom" "Vroom" sound and the car ontinued to move then she switched back to D4 .. 4 seconds afterward the car return back to normal. Second time..was tonight.. i had to pull on the parking brake slowly that's when my car was able to stop.
hMmM....beats me....sounds awfully strange and i seriously recomend that u take it to the shop asap. thats hella dangerous and on your way to the shop please drive it slowly so it prevents what happened from happeneing again.

Sounds like your throttle is getting stuck open. Either cruise control is coming on and not coming off, or when she steps on teh throttle it forces somthing a little farther than it should and it temporarily gets stuck. Even if you apply the brakes, the motor is still trying to go so you wont stop.
The technique is used often in bracket racing. Say i am ahead of a car in a bracket at the 1000 ft. i apply the brakes while keeping my gas pedal floored to slow me down a little, but not a lot. Just enough to keep me in front of my opponent, to try to keep me from breaking out. That is what i get for trying to bracket race a 11.03 sec integra. Just a lil FYI
But definetely get it looked at and dont drive it hard till you figure it out. Very easy to get hurt when s@#t like that goes on.

tahts another thing i was trying to say...try to use some kinda lubricant or cleaner to clean your iacv (idle air control valve) or get the throttle body cleaner spray and clean that out. could definately be dirt build up in the throttle body getting it stuck in the open position.

So you had a header installed, and you didn't use any o2 sensors?
You also said the car was a 96, it should have two o2 sensors, before and after the Cat,
otherwise you should have a check engine light for not having any o2 sensors.
Whats actually in the spot where you have No o2 Sensor, is it plugged,
or do you just not have the spot In the header for an o2?
Also, a header would make no difference in that happening,
only if the person that installed it fucked with something else when they put it in.
Is the gas pedal getting Stuck?
Your Friend doesn't need to mash the gash for it to rev up all the way, halfway works too.
If it happens again, just find a spot to pull off, and turn the car off before you're going too fast,
but MAKE SURE it's still in the start position(right before it cranks) so you don't lock up the steering wheel.

I hope what you're saying is the problem cus i would hate to get another o2 sensors those things are expensive. Hopefully it's not my transmission or engine.

My car has two o2 sensors, but some guys told me before that i should get them replaced once i get the headers. I'm not sure the problem of my car driving by itself has something to do with my o2 sensors that I didn't get them replaced.

my floor mat isn't it... i drove my car today and it was fine.. just dunno why it only happened when she drives it.

Near my home site on the intersection where peepz go to work everyday. The first time .. we were merging into a ramp getting on the freeway.. imagine how crazy that would be.. hitting 80mph and can't stop ur car.. my *** got lucky no cars were in front of me.

your best guess is just what everyone else said, somethings getting stuck. I also heard about another guy turning on his c/c and it kept accelerating and wouldnt dissengage using the brake, clutch, or hitting the button.
You wouldn't have to replace the o2 sensor when getting a new exhaust,
the tool probably just wanted to make more money off you if you took it to a shop.
You'll know when you need new ones though,
Either you'll start getting bad gas mileage when they get "lazy",
Or you will have a check engine light for a complete faulty one.
Just try taking a look at the gas pedal and throttle cable,
and look at it inside the engine bay also.
