im thinkin about it
i found a new but used ecu its the older model. he wants 350 for it and says its already got a mod chip in it. would i have more options for mods with the stock ecu or the older model. i think the one i might buy is a bdb1 or something like that. the one that is in there i an OBD2 the new one also has the harness to hook up. its local, should i just ask him if i could take it for a test run. this is my first import and i dont know anything about them. when i bought it all i really knew was it had a v-tech engine. i need to learn allot more.

Unless you know exactly what you are getting, don't get it.
Is your car OBD2 (1996-2001)? Or is it OBD1 (1992-1995)? Or is it OBD0 (1990-1991)? What motor is this ECU for? What "mod chip" does it have? Is this chip tunable? Will you need a conversion harness to run this ECU?
