Chip for ecu
I have an ecu, so i dont want to buy a new one thats already chipped, but i searched and im not really sure where to buy a kit to chip my ecu with crome. Is that difficult to chip an ecu, or is it doable if you take your time?
How much should a chip kit for crome cost me, and does anyone know anywhere i can take my ecu and get it chipped with crome? Also, is it difficult or relativly easy to splice an obd1 ecu harness to an obd2 wire harness, any write ups done on this?
If you guys think that theres something a little better then crome out there thats freeware, let me know. thanks

Shameless plug
If you take your time and are careful...chipping your own ECU the first time is not terribly difficult. If you want it done once and dont want to risk the $$$ that ECU you have is worth, send it out for a few bucks more. Sometimes peace of mind is worth it...sometimes doing it yourself gives you a lot more pride in your own workmanship.
Either way, I'd love to help you out if I can

Re: Chip for ecu (SiR99)
That kit looks good, but is that for a pre-tuned chip? Im going to be tuning the car on a dyno, so I was wondering how the tuner would hook this up to a lab top, because i dont see any ports for a plug in the kit. Also, whats the difference between SST Eprom and Amtel Eprom?

Re: Chip for ecu (SiR99)
This is all the parts you need to chip your own ECU and they come with a blank chip...there is no pretuned chip for your setup.
Difference between the two chips is the brand and the cost. Either are reburnable and work exactly the same once inside your ECU, burned with a proper tune.
The tuner would hook up to your car and ECU with his equipment. If your tuner requires you have all the equipment (datalogging cables, etc) I suggest you find another tuner...but if you are looking to tune for yourself, we have all of that available for sale as well.
I dont want to turn this into a sales pitch...email me if you have more questions and I would be glad to help.
