Default b2 bottom end, a6 head. same timing? if not how to adjust plz.

im replacing my d15b2 head with a d16a6 head. the a6 has about 150 less k on it, and a more agrressive cam so it'll be good to have. i want to put the head on my block. keeping the DPFI (if that matters) not converting to MPFI. i just want to know if the timing is the same and if it isnt how do i adjust is and by wut specs? thanks guys. one more thing... im replacing the gasket. i buy an a6 head gasket correct?

I have done this my self before and it works fine. If I remember correct the b2 and a6 heads are from the same casting just with a different cam(dont quote me) I used the head gasket for a b2, but the box says b2,b1,a6 etc.

in order to use the a6 cam gear in a b2 head u have to have either a y7 gear or adjustable cam gear, their 4.5 degrees diffrent..theres a small diffrence with the cam and DPFI, but not as much as u would see with MPFI

If you can, use a head gasket from a D16Z6 or D16Y8 (Same thing but one may be more expensive then the other), not for the compression increase but for the "I'm a metal head gasket and won't leave a hell of a mess like my paper counterparts."

If you want to specify timing, there is a 4.5 degree timing difference between the B2 cam and the A6 cam.

I would definately get the (d16z6)metal gasket over the stock paper version..And for timing issue you can get an adjustable cam gear..

Is it 4.5 degrees retarded or advanced?

about a year ago i swapped the A6 cam into my B2 engine, and had it pretty figured out so i didn't have to use an adjustable gear, but if you want it perfect you need one.
