Brake Pads Help!
I was trying to change my brake pads on my rear passenger side. It was a b..tch to get the two bolts that hold the caliper together and i still didn't get it. You twist the two bolts counter clock wise right? I was trying to do that and i literally broke my 12mm socket. Well help me out guys. Should i just let Midas do it for me or should i do it myself. My rear passenger side needs it the most, the other ones don't need it as much but i think it would be good to replace them too. Rotors need to be replace too.
Spray some PB blaster on there and let it soak for a little bit. Then get a nice size breaker bar to help get more leverage on the bolt to loosen it.

I guess your confused by the breaker bar?
Basically its just a longer ratchet that helps give you more torque to loosen the bolt.

What i did instead of buying that was that i just bought a metal pipe approx 18 inches long and slid that over my ratchet to give me a longer handle to help apply more torque.
And for the PB Blaster

yea if your using a simple ratchet you might not be getting enough leverage on the bolt.. you could even go to pep boys, auto zone,or sears and tell them you need a breaker bar for whatever size sockets your using (3/8" or 1/2" drive) that should do the trick with the pb blaster..good luck

ok let me get this straight: you soak the bolts with some pb blaster and then take a breaker bar and try to get it off? Isn't pb blaster similar to wd40? Do i have to get it online only?

You should be able to pick up the PB Blaster in some local stores, don't know exactly which ones have it and which ones don't. I don't think they are the same because i belive WD-40 is a lubricant, which PB blaster is a penetrating agent.

Yup, soak, wait and then tackle with the breaker bar if you have one. If not as i said earlier just get a sturdy pipe than is somewhat long and slide it over your ratchet to make it longer.
WARNING
You could still possibly stip or break your broke. This is in no way a guarantee. I'm not trying to scare you or anything but just letting you know. Also if you do get it out, make to sure to apply some lubricant back to the threds on the bolt before putting them back to help make it easier to remove next time.
They sell the lubricant at autozone in little packets, 2 should be enough.
