Default turbo mid rpm range...bog down. problem???

any ideas of what the problem might be?

I've got a 99 civic with a built d16z6 motor running turbo. tuned with neptune for 15 psi. just to give you background, a couple months ago i had this similar problem. when i accelerate, the car would hit mid rpm range and then just bog down really bad. someone told me that i might have fouled spark plugs and when i changed the plugs the problem was gone and my car ran fine and strong. the brand of plugs i used were denso.

then just last night i went to the track and put in some new plugs but this time i used ngk plugs because no automotive store around here sold denso. on my second run down the track i had the same problem occur...mid rpm...bog down. but this time when i replaced the plugs with a new set, the problem is still there.

is this because i use a different brand of plugs and i should stick with denso? or what else could the problem be? thanks for any help

If it was a bad plug the problem would occur through all rpm ranges.

What fuel sys. are you running?: injectors, FMU, regulator.

It could be bad A/F mixtures at that RPM. Try lowering the boost and see if it still happens.

well, for the smart guy...before this car, i've never driven a car w/VTEC before. before the swap, it was just a stock dx. second, can you REALLY tell w/SOHC vtec when it kicks in??? i don't know, maybe. when I built and swapped the motor I put on the turbo at the same time. and after that, seems like the turbo spools up around the same time vtec is supposed to kick in.

turbo pulls harder than VTEC

RC 550cc injectors, walbro fuel pump, and neptuned.

Why did the problem go away after I changed the plugs before? if the problem is NOT the plugs, then even after changing the plugs, my car should still bog down, right?
