b18c and b18c1....searched
I bought a honda motor swap book to do some homework. In the back of the book it has all of the engine codes and what not. The b18c is listed as JDM and the b18c1 is listed as USDM. I see on here that people have there engines listed as a JDM b18c1 is this incorrect? Or does the book have the wrong information?

hmm, not too sure, if i remember correctly, USDM is b18c1, JDM is b18c and so is the ITR.. but of course performance of the engine is different.. dont quote me on this and i probably will stand corrected.. and of course, USDM ITR - b18c5

yes the B18c is the japanese type-R.

According to Spoon Sport's Tatsuru Ichishima, The B18C stamps means it could be a C2 or C3. C1 through C3 of the VTEC B Series are considered the knock-down models in Japan. The favored engines are the B18C4s, which are not available in the US. This was out the 2002 August issue of Import Tuner that I have.
i have a obd1 jdm gsr (sir) motor and it is stamped with b18c. I'm pretty sure that they are identical except jdm version has a little higher compression and doesn't have evap. stuff on it.

I bought it at Barnes and Nobles. It has some helpful information for the people that havent tackled the project before.

Thats correct theres no JDM b18C1. The people that say that are just jumping on the JDM bandwagon

There is no such thing as a B18C2.
B18C = JDM Integra Si/SiR/SiR-G and JDM ITR (96 and 98spec)
B18C1 = US GSR
B18C3 = Aus/NZ Integra VTi (same as US GSR-Dual Runner IM)
B18C4 = UK Civic VTi
The B18C4 is the same engine as the US GSR (dual runner inlet manifold) and JDM Si/SiR but it has lower compression than the JDM Si. The B18C4 has 10:1 CR as opposed to 10:6:1 of the JDM Si/SiR

I won't argue if there is or isn't a C2, but that's what was printed in that issue. So if there isn't a C2, then it looks like Import Tuner misprinted the interview with Mr. Tatsuru Ichishima. But thanks for the correction.
