Default rear disc swap and broke some bolts

I have a big problem here. I was doing a rear disc conversion and broke 2 bolts on the trailing arm that thread into the chassis. What in the hell do I do? Im sure an easy out wont work. I can drill but how will that get the rest of the bolt (threads) out of the chassis? ANy help will be appreciated.

Maybe drill them out and retap the holes.

Your probably going to have to drill it out.

My suggestion is to drill out the center like you are using and Easy Out, but before you use and easy out get it glowing red hot with and Oxy/Acetylene torch. It should come right out

It's most likely a welded in nut anyhow... IE you CAN'T retap.. safely at least...

If the bolt snapped where it's still flush or above the surface you could notch it and try using a flat head screwdriver or a chisel to turn it out.

Chisels work GREAT but theres a technique to it and sometimes you just don't have the clearance to use it.

it actually broke up in the chassis. Hopefully easy out while red hot works

samething happend to me, pretty much, drill out the broken bolt, then get a helicoil they sell them at your autoparts store, drill it out then retap the hole and install the helicoil, or just try to get that broken bolt out

Dont use an easy out. You will break it. Use a drill to drill it out but get a bit smaller than the bolt and drill right in the middle of it. The remainder of the bolt might come loose.

Screw extractor. You'll need to drill a hole into the bolt, and thw screw extractor has reverse threads.

you might also try a left- handed drill bit and run your drill in reverse. i have had luck with this in the past. the heat created by drilling helps, and sometimes the bit will bite and since it is turning left handed, it will loosen or even spin the bolt out. these types of drill bits are sometimes available at good hardware stores, otherwise at a machine tool supplier that carries all kinds of drills, dies, taps, etc. hope this helps. also it doesn't sound like the bolt is sticking out at all, but if it is, you could weld a nut onto it and turn it out.

You can drill it out with a carbide drill. But you have to start with a flat surface and spot drill it first directly in the center. Also the other ideas might work too.

there is no peice of the bolt sticking out. If I try and drill and use an easy out, how much of the bolt should I leave for the EX out the grab? I mean the more I drill out the easier it should eb to get out.

I would just make damn sure to be as close as possible to the center. If the surface is not flat just use a die grinder if you can get it in there to grind a flat.
USE A SPOT DRILL FIRST, Or else your drill will wander. I would drill out at least half way doun and then try an extractor.

I would give it a try. If as a last resort you may have to take it to a mechanic..
