annoying road noise in rear
I have this really annoying road noise in my new eg.... Its in the rear of the car and it goes away when I turn left.... so when I go around left bends it will fade away but when I let the wheel come back to the straight position then it starts again.... When I did buy this car I was told that the passenger side inner tie rod was bent a little bit.... the same day that I got the car I put it on a lift and did see that it was bent. but I really don't think that could be the cause of it, could it be?
P.S. it does sound like a truck with huge wheels on it in the inside... OH BTW this is a beater with no radio so I can't turn up the music

You'll have to describe the noise better...
My suggestion would be to thuroughly clean all 4 wheel wells and make sure they're FULLY DRY... Cover the brake lines, suspension, brakes/hubs etc. then undercoat the crap out of them... it reduces roadnoise INCREDIBLY.

ok will try that... but the noise is very loud.... sounds like you are in a truck with big off road tires on the freeway... it horrible
anyother ideas?
anyother ideas?
Yo I wouldn't be driving that car in that case...
DEFINATELY inspect EVERYTHING in the rear suspension...
If you don't know how or know anyone who does take it to a shop... don't risk something major happening.

remember my hoime had the same problem and it was a fat flat mark in the tire. its like a rotational sound that is hella annoying. take off the rear wheels and inspect the tires.

i had that problem. its easier just to do a brake conversion
its like a humming right? kinda like if you blow over an empty beer bottle or soda can.

not really humming but its is hella annoying... I don't want to do the brake conversion b/c its just a beater.... Oh I don't think its a flat spot either b/c the wheels and tires were on my other civic and it didn't make those noises.... I hope its something simple and not a bearing.
yeah, if it's a constant noise, not a "wobble" sound (sorry not great with words) then it's almost certainly a bearing. it's not a huge deal to have fixed, or if you are a pretty competent home mechanic you could do it with the right tools and instructions.

well the sound is constant.... but it starts when I get to about 20 MPH and gets louder from there.

no no no, I think what he was trying to say was that you should CHECK for a flat spot because of something rubbing your tire on your current car.

then it will pass the "annoying" phase, and become the "crazy-nails-on-chalk-board" phase
