Default is it ok to block off the egr

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...wItem

You are bidding on an insulating Intake Manifold EXTREME PPP Gasket for the 92-95 Honda Civic Si with d16z6 vtec motor. This item is brand new. This version provides maximum horsepower gains by blocking off the Exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) which dumps hot exhaust gases into your intake stream, as well as blocking coolant flow to the intake manifold. This item is brand new. We also have another version which does not block off the EGR/Coolant flow, please view our other auctions.

Is it ok to get this for my d16z6 hooking up the skunk2 IM

egr = exhaust gas recirculation. This is only at idle and maybe low rpms and does not noticably affect performance or gas mileage in any way and may actually make your car idle rough if blocked.

WTF, the egr is operative at idle and low load situations (cruising). basically just letting exhaust back into the intake to burn it again. it keeps the CC temps down a little as well which is good for long highway runs. it wont make the engine run rough if blocked. mine is blocked (d15z1) if anything it wiil idle better without the exhaust coming back in. BUT the whole reason i posted was to say you dont even have an egr on your car.
