Couple s2k questions... looking to purchase one (lower seats, engines, quirks)
Hey guys, this is my first time posting in the s2000 forum. I usually hang around the ITR and RR forums. I tried searching for my answers but found nothing, maybe i used the wrong search criteria. I have a few questions, links to old threads will work!
1. I found a great deal on a 2000 model. Were there any quirks with this first model that Honda hadn't worked out yet?
2. I test drove a s2k w/ the new 2.2L and loved it. Is it possible to swap this into the older s2000? i reckon you need the engine/ecu? was the tranny changed also?
3. I am 6'2" and sit a little high in the driver's seat. since the steering wheel isn't adjustable, it is somewhat difficult to heel-toe brake in this car. are there some sort of rails that can lower the stock seats? or do most of you tall freaks just get an aftermarket seat? i'd love to see what most of you have done
Thanks in advance for any help!

1. Main thing is the ECU runs a bit rich so is a HAIR less peppy then 02+, also the plastic rear window in the 00-01's is a pain and can crack. Other minor things would be the carpet on the console and lack of tweeters.
2. It is possible with minimal trouble, the tranny in the AP2's is diff, the 1-2nd gear ratios are a bit diff and there are even people who prefer this with the 2.0L motor for a little extra kick.
3. Yes

3. Yes
1. To swap ECUs you have to get your key reprogrammed. K20 style. The rest of your questions are answered in my sig.
2. The 2.2 is a direct swap. You don't need the tranny, ECU, you don't even need the harness. Just a few tools and a hoist.
3. You will need Mugen or Taitec rails for your seats, as those sit the lowest.

yeah, alot of people running the 00-01 have picked up some pep(not huge gain) by running the 02-03 ecu. plug and play cept for keys!
incidently, I might sell my stock 02 ecu before TOO long... we'll see, its a nice insurance fall back for the ems right now. Plus I have kept all my previous stock parts incase I ever wanted to revert things.
as for the seat rails, I know they exist, but don't know squat about them since I am 5'9 and fit nicely as is.

really? you can run the same ecu? they don't run a different map for the extra 0.2L?

can you mount the stock seats onto these rails? or do you just have to get aftermarket bucket seats if you need to sit lower?
thanks guys

A bit different, but it doesn't hurt to have an extra 1000rpms on the 2.2 The 00-01 ECU is preferred. They differ on the VTEC switchover point, and the redline.
Stock seats cannot go on those rails, you must purchase aftermarket seats.

that's my thinking... if I ever head that route down the road.
