02 overheating
Well im mew to the forum so i just want to say hi and thank you in advance for any replies. I have recently purchased a 2002 S2000 and it was in a small head on accident with I'm guessing a curb. It needed a radiator, condenser, and a lower radiator hose but had no visible body damage. It has 47kmi and I picked it up for 15k so I didnt mind and the dealer is fixing everything. Yesterday was the third time that I have brought it back for an overheating problem. Now the dealership is confused after replacing all hoses, the water pump, radiator, and thermostat. I have personally done a head gasket test on it and it seems to be fine. I havent had the car on a lift yet or looked at it myself because I think they should take care of it. After about 20miles of driving (smelling coolant all the time) the system starts to get air bound and I loose heat then it starts to overheat and they say they cant find a leak and nothing leaks on the ground when its parked. I finally talked them in to sending it to honda Monday morning but im just wondering if anyone has had a similar problem and if so what the problem was.
Thanks
Thanks
i did a c02 detection test in the cooling system. as soon as the system is blead of air it is fine but after driving it for about an hour the heater core becomes airbound (i loose heat) and then the car starts overheating. while the car is parked just after driving it the system holds pressure for a while 20 mins or more with no visible leakage on the ground but everytime i pick the car up from the dealer i can smell antifreeze when i come to a stop at a light. both fans do work and i checked the thermostat to make sure its working(checked temp on the out bound line and it opens at about 190) the dealer finally said that they werent going to work on it and they would send it to honda but im just wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem
despite simple but most often overlooked, checked/replaced the radiator cap? Also routine but a compression and leakdown tests performed? Ran the heater on while bleeding the system? It's possible that some coolant lines might not be installed correctly.
