Oil pan gasket metal rings
I'm about to reinstall my oil pan with a new gasket.
On the flywheel side of the oil pan gasket there's two holes that's supposed to have metal rings in them (see the pic below). Sadly I lost these metal rings when I took the gasket off. I've bought a new oil pan gasket, but the metal rings did not come with it
.
I would like to buy some new ones, but I can't find the part# for them. I can't see them here: http://www.acuraoemparts.com/d...ch=no
Anyone know the part# of these metal rings, or know where I can find them?

When I took the gasket off I noticed there were some sealant at the edges/bends on the gasket. Am I supposed to just put hondabond there, or should I put it on the entire gasket?
I am sorry Len but you don't need any hondabond on the oil pan gasket at all. no where in the Helms manual does it say to put hondabond there. the metal rings are embedded in the rubber oem gasket, if you squeeze the gasket you will be able to feel them.
Just to confirm what ITR-00-1457 and 01usjdmr have already said the OEM oil pan gasket comes with metal washers inbedded already into it.
Here are a couple of pics showing the metal washers in the OEM gasket I purchased from Len at Baranaco Acura
** don't take this the wrong way Len I'm just trying to help Pompiuses out**

Dude, I think you do have the metal ring. The OEM one I bought 6 months ago had them too, though it wasn't obvious since they are covered in rubber.
Yours looks the same as mine. Try pinching the center hole, see if there's something hard in there.
P.S. If you haven't done this before: There a GOOD chance one of the old metal rings will stick to the block, and expletive up the seal on your new gasket. Make sure you look for any unusual bumps around the studs in the block.

i agree with some above. the honda gaskets do have metal rings in the gasket.
the hondabond you typically see is at the corners where the oil pump and rear seal plate meet with the block and ooze out to the gasket surface. Unless you are reusing a gasket, no hondabond is necessary

My apologies. I grabbed the bag and didn't even feel for the o-ring which is embedded into the gasket itself and looking at the original pic, it looks like it's already there.
As far as the Hondabond goes, I've always used Hondabond between the oil pan and the gasket, not between the flat surfaces of the gasket and the block. *shrugs*

Some people have had success with hondabond on the gasket, some have not. I've tried both ways and I'm not leaking anymore with no honda-bond. But I know people that always use honda-bond on their oil pan gasket to avoid issues, and they do.
You can't go wrong either way.
