Default SHOCK RECOMMENDATIONS.

Alright, here's the deal. I have a 96 VTEC Accord sitting on 18in RACINGHARTS. I also have EIBACH SPORTLINE SPRINGS. What I want to know is what SHCOKS will be compatible with the springs ? I looked up TOKICOS SHOCKS but they make springs for NON-VTEC ACCORDs. Iam considering KYB GR-2 shocks or KONI SPORT YELLOW. Which one is more compatible with the sportline springs ? So far, the KONIS have WAY better reviews then the KYBs. Check out hte reviews at http://www.carreview.com/mfr/k....aspx for KYBS and http://www.carreview.com/cat/p....aspx for KONIS. Thanks guys

GR-2's arent comparable to koni's at all.

KYB AGX's match very well with sportlines (its what i have). the dampening range isnt as large as the Koni Yellows, but they also cost like $150 less for all 4.

I concur, I've always recommended the KYB AGX series for any application requiring an adjustable rate strut. The GR-2's are a good strut, but are not adjustable.

YES. The only reason why Iam still considering the KYB Gr-2 is becasue it's like half the price of a KONI for EACH SHOCK ! So you have nothing but praise for the KYBS or are there things that are bad about them ? I heard they suck on dropped cars and it's too SOFT ? TRUE OR NOT !?

What fw190bvi and P_Adams are saying, is that the GR-2's are NOT meant for a car lowered as much as the sportlines springs do. For that much of a drop, you'll need the adjustability of KYB's AGX or Koni Yellow shocks. I have seen nothing but praise for the KYB AGXs, and know that they'll be on my Accord as soon as my stock shocks show signs of failure.

So you highly recommend KYB's AGX with the EIBACK SPORTLINES ? I 've never heard of them, Iam gonna go and do research on it. Thanks

GR-2's are what they will use on your mom's minivan. AGX's arent stocked by anyone besides performance shops.

and AFA, FYI, AGX's arent available for 6th gen accords last i checked

Not the last time I checked either... Which is why I went with Tokico Illuminas, and I love 'em. (Picked them up off ebay for $360 + free shipping.)

Ah, didn't think of that... I've seen a reputable site list part numbers for the AGX's on a 6th gen, but I know that's still highly debated.

absolutley nothing. i have no idea what that is about. it DOES make a difference with cat back exhausts and headers, but NOTHING to do with shocks and springs. with the exception of sway bars, the DX, LX, SE, and EX all had the same suspension parts from the factory

I have no idea what VTEC has to do with the shocks BUT when I was looking through TOKICO shocks, they had it for NON-VTEC ACCORDs and no VTEC ACCORDs, which is the one I have. So yea, I don't know why TOKICO SHOCKs are'nt availiable for VTEC ACCORDs ?
