Default Is a t3/t4 60 trim .48a/r compressor .60 a/r turbine good for a built d16?

Hey guys, I was looking for a turbo and found a t3/t4 60 trim turbo with .48/.60 a/r on the compressor and turbin sides.

Is this a decent turbo to be using for a forged lower end d16a6? It has a vband exhaust side, and that's cool. Its internally wastegated. ???

What kind of power are you going to try to make?

its going to have a pretty late spool, somewhere around 5700rpm so unless you arent revving it past redline i think it'll be a little large for 350whp considering it can flow around 500whp

WAY too big, IMO. If its built, it can take extra heat, so for the same cash you can get a true Super60 T3 (not just a .60/.63 60trim t3) or a 50trim t3/t4. When you read compressor maps, you'll realize that you don't need such a large turbo with most honda power goals.

Comparing the comp maps between the 46 and 50 trim, i think the 46 would have killer spool and decent top end. But when i bought mine i went with the 50 trim.

i have a d16a6, with srp pistons, and eagle rods, and i built a turbo out of svo/volvo parts. its a t3, .60 compressor from an svo mustang, and a .48 exhaust from a volvo (i think)

it spools INSANELY quickly. i love it, and might step up to a .60 exhaust, and a slightly large intake (small t4, .60 maybe)

I'm sure that someone has ran a 46 trim on a sohc before but i wasn't able to find any one, or any threads. I'm super curious what the real life spool characteristics are like.

this is the map for the super 60 right??

It kinda seems like 350 will be pushing this turbo to its outer limits. Or is there something I am missing here??

OT: The t3/t04e 50 trim with the .48 a/r turbine housing will do you fine imho.

i would get a .63 turbine. and a smaller comp wheel.

once you get up into the higher psi levels, you will have a hard time gettin all your exhaust through a .48 turbine housing.
the result will be a contaminated burn.

ask me how i know

btw- im running a t3t4e 57 trim at ~26 psi. - making ~300ish
i WILL be switching to a 63 turbine.

It was this turbo.

Yes I know SSAUTOCHROME sucks. But anyways, this turbo looked inexpensive and has a vband, yada yada.

and the head flows ALOT better then a d head.

which also helps spool time

But I don't know if this turbo
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...%3AIT

is a super 60 or not. All I know is what was in the advertisement.

the turbos are even fake? I just figured they used a normal t3/t4 turbo.

hmmm

Displacement is the main factor in spool up. B16 and D16 should be able to spool about the same given everything else is equal. B18 on the other hand has more displacement and would spool better than the D16.

but, given the exact setup on a b16 and a d16, a b16 will spool faster then a d16, may not be a huge difference, but whe a 1.6 liter streetcar is tryin to spool a 57trim+ .63 a/r'd turbine, every little bit helps

like i said the b16 would only be able to spool a large turbo only slightly faster
