Knock Sensor and Forged Pistons
Well I have come to find out the hard way that the knock sensor doesn't like the vibrations given off by forged pistons. My 98 lude keeps throwing P0325 codes. So I tried removing it from the block, but leaving it still plugged in. Unfortunately the ECM now throws a MIL on the 1st driving cycle as opposed to the 2nd driving cylce when it is attached to the block. Being that I am a electronics tech I saw that the knock sensor harness is one pin. I figured that the circuit was no longer grounded when it is removed from the block. Luckily I work with a bunch of electrical engineers, so with thier help I have come up with a couple of possible solutions. One is to run a wire from the bolt end of the sensor to the negative side of the battery. The other is to place a small capacitor between the harness and the wire which runs into the harness to help attenuate the signal given off by the sensor. The 3rd is to investigate the knock sensor used in the S2000(assuming it has one). I know the S2000 runs forged pistons, so I wondering if the S2000 runs a "less sensitive" knock sensor. Anyone with any ideas please reply!
well, you can ''tune'' knock sensors for frequencies.
the s2k has forged pistons but it runs close PTWC, and slapping is not a problem.
you do as you say or just disable the knock sensor in the rom.

I don't know how to disable the knock sensor in the ROM. Maybe i should have said that this car is on the OBD2 ECM. I live in PA and must have this ECM installed in order to pass inspection. They plug in there scanner to OBD2 cars, and if there is a engine code you fail.
As soon as I get the car to pass with the factory ECM, I will be getting neptune, and have it tuned right.
Oh yeah what does PTWC mean, piston to cylinder clearance?
