info on my motor
i bought a d16z6 from canada, iwant to knwo some specs on the motor, it is stamped a d16z6 and is from a 95 canadian si. The thing is that in nuetral it will rev till 8k rpms. Also on the highway i wont hit redline and my tachs reading 7500 rpms. How come??? Its a stock p28 ecu.

umm?? well first of all... it's 127hp.. on the highway... as in your in 5th gear at 7500????
how the hell fast are you going.. I know a 5th and 4grand i'm at 140km....

(I may be wrong but...) Doesn't the rev limiter only kick in when you're in gear? I've accidentally revved my z6 past 7500RPMs a couple of times (when I've mis-shifted which technically means it was in neutral for that split second).

The ECU doesn't know what gear your in if its a manual trans car, there is absolutely no sensors on the trans other then for the reveres light. Which is why its such a pain to put a remote start on the car, there's no reliable way to know which gear the car is in if its remotely started.
